Our client is a leading manufacturer and distributor of high-quality surfing products, fashion garments and accessories. With their Global Head Office based in Perth, WA, they offer support not only to the Australian Surf Retail market, but also to their International counterparts. They continue to grow rapidly, expanding through both new product categories and markets.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director the Design Room Manager / Senior Designer key responsibilities are to help develop the creative brief and line plans. Create and manage the design calendar, manage the design team; keeping them on track, while also designing and developing various aspects of the men’s apparel range yourself. You must meet the highest quality design standards and ensure on-time quality ranges are delivered. You may be required to use your design skills flexibly across all categories of apparel within the surf & workwear market.

About you

To be successful in this role: Design Room Manager / Senior Designer, you will possess the following:

  • Substantial experience in fashion design – preferably a minimum of 5 years in a similar role
  • Team management & leadership experience
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisation & communication skills
  • Highly creative and innovative design skills
  • Graphics & yardage development skills
  • Strong garment construction, fabrication and fit knowledge
  • A degree/diploma in Fashion Design
  • An understanding of and passion for the surf, fashion, and workwear industries
  • A flexible approach with the ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
  • Strong Illustrator and Photoshop skills
  • Ability to work harmoniously within a team environment, where you respect the views and opinions of others.
