Job Description

Our client is seeking a Footwear Designer/Production Manager:

The key objectives of the Production and Design Manager for our client are;

Develop and commercialise new product designs in-line with the brand strategy.

Drive the product development cycle from concept through to execution of bulk.

Manage and develop the supplier relationships.

Ensure deliveries arrive in line with the critical path.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the broad direction of the Head of Planning & Design and in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures, the Production & Design Manager is required to:
Operational Responsibilities
Design & Develop:

In conjunction with the brand General Manager and the Head of Planning & Design, design and develop new products to meet the business strategy brief.

Ensure all new products are fit for purpose and meet relevant industry standards.

Manage the critical path for new developments to meet product launch dates.

Develop commercially viable products to meet market acceptable price points whilst achieving budgeted GP % expectations.

Production Management:

Ensure the quantification and execution of the merchandise plan is out into action, working in conjunction with the Merchandise Planner.

Manage the purchase and production order placement in relation to the merchandise plan.

Ensure all raw materials deliveries arrive at the relevant factories to meet critical path deliveries.

Management of all orders through to shipment inspection phase.

Ensure all product and production meet safety standard requirements.

Seek to find sustainable methods and materials for production.

·Manage cost of goods through materials and manufacturing sourcing.

Team Responsibilities
Mentor and develop direct reports, including regular ‘pulse check’ meetings with team members and documenting development plans.

Actively promote and work with other team members to provide a high level of customer service to all employees and stakeholders.

Attend regular team meetings as scheduled and promote effective communication and strong working relationships within the team and Propel.

Demonstrate commitment to occupational health and safety within the organisation including immediately reporting any accidents and or hazards.

A formal qualification in boot/shoe design

Ability to develop a clear and concise technical pack for new product development

Excellent time management and organisational skills

Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.

Strategic thinker, with a strong ability to problem solve and think laterally to meet expected outcomes.

High level of competency in all aspects of the Microsoft Office suite

Previous ERP system experience (preferred)

Knowledge & Experience
Thorough understanding of product development cycle

Previous team management.

Ability to adapt to ever-changing circumstances.

Understanding of industry compliance standards.

Ability to drive a critical path.
