Job Description




Position Purpose

To translate new designs into patterns that are graded into children’s women’s and men’s sizes ready for production, in conjunction with a size specification sheet. Maintaining the pattern library whilst updating and altering existing patterns for production for SPORTSWEAR fashion house.















Altering existing patterns to make improvements to fit and sizing.

Drafting new patterns in Gerber from design sketches or samples.

Changing existing patterns for individual customer-specific size.

Checking and saving any patterns emailed back to us from the factory against samples/production for accuracy.

Develop markers when needed for local production and usage so systems are up to date.

List off patterns against the stock when quality issues arise.

View fit sessions to refine patterns to customer’s needs


Grading new patterns and existing patterns manually without a rule table into children’s, women’s and men’s sizes including plus sizes. Developing new grading standards that are in line with local industry sizing standards.


Creating new measurement specs by measuring patterns.

Develop master specs for new patterns including creating/altering B&W sketches in Adobe Illustrator.

Updating existing measurement specs when changes are made.

Individual accountabilities

Computer Skills/Communication

Email patterns to the factory after converting patterns to correct file format specific to the factory.

Communicating with factories and internally recording any changes to patterns and measurement specs.

Plotting new and existing patterns for local sampling.

Creating DXF markers to translate patterns from Gerber Accumark to Adobe Illustrator files that can be read and accessed by the Sublimation area.


Updating Electronic pattern register with new pattern details including size range available.

Sublimation platform pattern list with updated patterns and updated size ranges.

Training and assisting cutting room in the use of Accumark Explorer so you can have the potential to self improve

Communicating with Development Team and Sublimation in order to achieve the best outcome

Accumark explorer maintenance- running checks on storage areas to prevent files from corrupting.

Time management for all departments

Ensuring all workflow priorities are achieved.




Feedback from factories and customers so you can provide information to various departments (including returns or repeat orders as a measure of satisfaction).

Ability to juggle new pattern requests for samples with the need of meeting production deadlines both locally and offshore to enable you to provide authority in competency.











Experience in Pattern making, Grading, Marker making in conjunction with strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Gerber Accumark Explorer V.11+, Adobe Illustrator) so you are up to date with all market software

Strong technical background and sound understanding of garment construction.

Experience communicating with factories

The ability to develop a pattern from a sketch, sample or written instructions.

Sewing experience with both woven and stretch fabrics

Knowledge of offshore and local manufacturing processes so you can provide effective systems and processes

High attention to detail.

Strong communication skills.

Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.

Excellent fitting and problem-solving skills.

High level of accuracy.

Qualifications / Special requirements

A degree or Advanced Diploma in Design, Patternmaking and Grading.

Salary $70K-$100K+super (neg)
