Job Description

Our client is an International Fashion House seeking a Senior Garment Technician. Experience on either StyleCAD or Gerber is essential.

Technical Product Development

  • Following design direction, specify and create detailed technical pack
  • Manage detailed BOMs in AP21
  • Responsible from first prototype to multiple sales person samples
  • Participate in fittings to resolve design and fit changes and make relevant changes to the garment specifications
  • Accurately measure samples and translate to technical pack to ensure high quality sample making
  • Liaise successfully with external factories to support the sample process

Production Stage

  • Responsible throughout the fitting process to accurately update technical specifications until approved production sample
  • Manage BOM in AP21 until production handover
  • Provide accurate grading information in line with client’s standards
  • Work closely with design, production and QA teams to resolve quality issues.

Design Process

  • Collaborate successfully with designers, pattern makers and design room management
  • Successfully prepare production samples according to the critical path
  • Work collaboratively with the grading and garment technical team

Skills and Specifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in pattern making and garment construction
  • 7-10 years’ experience in a senior Garment Technician position for a high-end designer brand.
  • Excellent knowledge in pattern making, garment construction, fitting workmanship and manufacturing.
  • Able to build and develop strong relationships with a multitude of personnel.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Be exceptionally well organized.
  • Computer proficiency in AP-21, Gerber/StyleCAD, Microsoft Office, Photoshop and Illustrator.

Key performance indicators

  • Accurately and efficiently setting up styles in AP-21.
  • Consistent and timely approach to all tasks undertaken.
    • Constant updates to BOM on production system, AP-21 in line with design changes.
    • Logical and ordered organization of sample fabric and awareness of stock levels.
    • Design room is consistently neat, tidy and OH&S compliant at all times
