Job Description

This is a unique opportunity to join one of Australia’s fastest-growing and most successful fashion companies based in Rosebery. Our client is looking for a highly motivated and strategic individual to join the team as a Merchandise Planner.

About the Role

As the Merchandise Planner, you will drive the brand’s focus on the right product, right place and right time to maximise sales performance and ensure optimal stock levels across retail and online channels. You will be responsible for detailed sales forecasting, OTB management, inventory management, and strategic planning to maximize profitability while aligning with the brand’s seasonal and long-term goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute merchandise planning strategies to optimize stock purchasing, allocation and sales performance.
  • Monitor sales trends, customer demand, and market insights to create accurate forecasts.
  • Collaborate with the design team to ensure product ranges align with business objectives.
  • Monitor inventory levels and recommend replenishment or markdown strategies to maintain sell-through and closing stock targets.
  • Conduct weekly financial analysis, including margin management and stock turnover rates.
  • Work closely with retail and e-commerce teams to ensure product availability and optimal assortment.
  • Prepare and present reports on sales performance, inventory levels, and future projections.
  • Identify strategic opportunities to grow and develop new areas of the business.
  • Train and develop the planning and allocations team.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in MEN’S WEAR merchandise planning within the fashion industry is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make strategic recommendations.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with AP21 and TRS preferred.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment.
  • A keen eye for fashion trends and an understanding of customer buying behaviour.

The Candidate

  • 5+ years in Mens Wear Merchandise Planning, with experience in Fashion Retail (apparel is essential), covering everything from allocation to strategic planning.
  • Skills: Strong Excel and planning system expertise, with excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Attributes: Strategic thinker, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
