Job Description
We are looking for a Production Coordinator to join our team, reporting to the Production Manager. In this role, you’ll play a key part in bringing new product to life – from technical development and supplier quotations through to fitting, quality control and production handover.
Working closely with our Design, Planning and Production teams, you’ll build strong supplier relationships while ensuring product meets Seed’s standards for quality, fit, safety, margin and delivery.
THE ROLE:
- Manage the technical development of new styles from Design handover through to production.
- Prepare detailed supplier tech packs, specifications, measurements, grading and labelling requirements.
- Fit and measure samples, document fitting comments and ensure changes are accurately communicated to suppliers.
- Partner with suppliers to negotiate competitive costs while achieving target margins and delivery dates.
- Manage seasonal production schedules and critical path deadlines, ensuring key milestones are met.
- Build strong relationships with offshore suppliers and proactively follow up on development and manufacturing timelines.
- Coordinate fabric, trim, lab dip and strike-off approvals, as well as fabric testing requirements.
- Inspect shipment and production samples for fit, workmanship, quality and correct labelling, escalating issues as required.
- Work closely with Design, Planning and Production to manage delays, shortages, overages and other production issues.
- Ensure products meet Seed’s product safety, labelling and compliance standards, particularly across childrenswear.
- On-site role 5-days per week, based in our St Kilda Road offices.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- 3+ years’ experience in a similar Production or Quality Control role, with strong offshore production experience.
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in Production and/or Quality Control.
- Essential experience across cut & sew and woven product.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, specifications, grading and garment fitting.
- Excellent organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, particularly when working with offshore suppliers.
- Excellent PC skills, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
- Must hold a valid working with children check
